Ford’s iconic Mustang is reaching a significant milestone, celebrating six decades of exhilarating performance and timeless design. To mark this occasion, Ford is introducing special commemorative badges that harken back to the original 1964 model revealed at the World’s Fair.

The new badges, adorned in Vermillion and Ebony (red and black), draw inspiration from the iconic styling elements found on the debut model. These retro-themed emblems, featuring red with black stripes and “60 Years” text, serve as a nostalgic tribute to the enduring legacy of the American pony car.

But Ford’s tribute doesn’t stop with the badges. As part of the 60th-anniversary celebration, Ford has hinted at a special feature for owners of the seventh-generation Mustang. Scheduled for release around April 17, this feature will be delivered via a software update, available at no additional cost to owners.

To receive the update, owners simply need to activate Automatic Software Updates through their vehicle’s Sync 4 touchscreen settings menu.

With the demise of competitors like the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger, the Ford Mustang stands as the last remaining V-8-powered American muscle car.

While no performance enhancements have been announced alongside the anniversary celebration, enthusiasts can expect the Mustang GT to retain its impressive power output of 486 horsepower, with the Dark Horse trim boasting an impressive 500 horsepower.

Since its debut in 1964, the Mustang has facinated automotive enthusiasts and remained a sales success. Ford proudly claims that the Mustang was America’s best-selling sports car last year, based on 2023 U.S. registrations.

“As we prepare to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Mustang, the same passion and excitement that fueled its debut continue with our seventh-generation Mustang, now available to customers in 85 markets worldwide,” remarked Jeff Marentic, Ford general manager for truck, family, and enthusiast vehicles.
