Ford Issues Recall For Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit Over Charge Cable Compliance

Ford has announced a recall involving 241 units of its electric Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit models due to an issue with the labeling of their charge cables. This recall affects vehicles produced between 2022 and 2023, with the primary concern being that the charge cables lack the necessary Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM) certification label.

This certification is specified by the Electrical Equipment Safety Systems / Australian Communications Media Authority, EESS/ACMA. In its recall notice, Ford explains, “The charge cables fitted to the vehicles are missing the required Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM) certification label specified by the Electrical Equipment Safety Systems / Australian Communications Media Authority, EESS/ACMA.”

The absence of this label means that the vehicles may not meet the required regulatory standards. However, Ford reassures customers that “There is no safety hazard associated with this recall, and the defect will not affect the performance of the vehicle.” This labeling issue does not pose any immediate danger to the vehicle occupants or affect the operational performance of the vehicles.

Nevertheless, it is essential to address this non-compliance to ensure that all regulatory standards are met. Ford has already identified the affected vehicles and has provided a list of Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) associated with the recall.

Owners of these vehicles are encouraged to contact a Ford Australia dealership to arrange for the replacement of the non-compliant charge cable. This service will be provided free of charge to the customers.

The recall aims to rectify the labeling issue promptly, ensuring that all Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit vehicles comply with the necessary safety and regulatory standards. Ford remains committed to maintaining the highest quality and safety standards for its customers and vehicles.
