The team based in Silverstone has changed a lot since Stroll took over the old Force India team and turned it into Racing Point, then Aston Martin in 2021.
With a lot of money invested, like in a new factory, the team is now aiming for podium finishes. But they want even more and hope to compete for championships.
There’s news that Stroll is trying to get Newey, who works for Red Bull, to join Aston Martin to help them improve their technical skills.
Alonso, who recently signed a new deal with Aston Martin, thinks the team has big plans for the future. He believes no other team has as much ambition as Aston Martin.
Alonso said, “Aston Martin has big plans for the future. But you need to achieve those goals and deliver results. This team was very new two years ago. They doubled the number of people working in the factory. They used to be in an old building, now they’re in a super modern factory.”
He added, “Last year, our car was very fast, but we had to learn a lot off the track to improve it. This year, we’re improving a lot. But to win races and championships is the hardest part.”
This year, Aston Martin’s results aren’t as good as last year, mainly because teams like Ferrari and McLaren are doing better. But Alonso is still happy with the team’s progress.
He said, “I’m happy. Last year, we were in a similar position at the end of the year, but this year, we’re being more aggressive with our car development. I’m happy to see that.”
