Earlier this week, Red Bull announced that Adrian Newey, who has been with the team for 19 years, will be leaving. During his time with Red Bull, they won many championships.

Newey was unhappy with the politics at Red Bull, which are still ongoing.

When asked if Newey leaving means Red Bull is falling apart, Fernando Alonso said, “I don’t think so.”

He explained that because Red Bull is a top team, any changes there get a lot of attention. People want to beat them, so any news about them is big.

Lawrence Stroll, who owns Aston Martin, is interested in hiring Newey. Ferrari is also interested in him.

Alonso said he has always wanted to work with Newey but sees it as an honor just to be in the same era as him.

He said, “I always wanted to work with him. I respect him a lot. I consider him the best in Formula 1. I feel privileged to compete alongside him.”

Alonso mentioned that Newey’s future plans are unclear, so it’s up to him and Lawrence Stroll to decide if they’ll work together.

Newey will officially leave Red Bull in March 2025. Until then, he will keep working on the RB17 hypercar, but he won’t be involved in future projects for the team.
