While he was taking a break from his legal trial in New York, Trump went to Miami on Sunday, which stirred up some controversy. He was seen with important people from Formula 1 racing and even visited the McLaren garage, where he posed for photos and talked to McLaren’s CEO Zak Brown. Many fans cheered for him.

Some people questioned why Formula 1 and McLaren allowed Trump to have a big platform in the media. McLaren later explained that they didn’t do it for political reasons but out of respect for the President of the United States.

In a statement, McLaren said, “We are not involved in politics, but we respect the President of the United States. When we were asked if he could visit our garage on race day, we agreed along with other important figures from Formula 1.”

Trump’s visit to McLaren happened on the same day Lando Norris won his first Formula 1 race since 2021. After the race, Norris said Trump congratulated him and called himself Norris’s ‘lucky charm’.

Norris said, “I didn’t see him in the garage because I was busy getting ready for the race. But he congratulated me afterward. It’s an honor when someone like him takes the time to acknowledge your achievements.”

“He said he was my lucky charm because I won. So maybe he’ll come to more races now. Having someone like Donald Trump here is special. You have to respect him in many ways. When someone like that acknowledges your hard work, it’s something to be thankful for. And I am grateful for that moment.”
