Earlier this week, Red Bull said that Adrian Newey would be leaving their F1 team after being there for twenty years. During that time, the team won seven drivers’ championships and six constructors’ championships.

People in Miami’s F1 area were surprised and worried when they heard about Newey leaving, but Red Bull said it wouldn’t affect them too much.

Red Bull thanked Newey for helping them win so much and said they have a plan to keep doing well with their new technical director, Pierre Wache. They want to stay strong even when F1 changes its rules in 2026.

For the 2026 season, Red Bull will use their own engines, which they’re making themselves under the name Red Bull Powertrains. Ford, a big American company, is helping them with money and technical stuff as their official partner.

Some people were thinking that Ford might not want to help Red Bull as much now that Newey is leaving. But Mark Rushbrook from Ford said that’s not true. He said, “Even though Adrian is leaving, we’re still working with Red Bull just like before.”

He explained that it’s normal for companies to have plans for what to do when important people leave. Newey’s contract with Red Bull was going to end in 2025 anyway, so Ford always knew he might not be there in 2026.

Rushbrook talked with Christian Horner, the boss of Red Bull, about how they’ll keep being successful in 2026. They both agreed it’s important to have a plan for when things change.

Rushbrook said, “We believe Red Bull is the best team to work with in F1, even with the things going on behind the scenes right now. We’re committed to helping them succeed.”
