In the race, Perez started well from fourth place. He tried to pass the two Ferraris in front of him to get to second place behind Verstappen.

But when he tried to slow down his car for the first corner, he couldn’t do it in time. He almost hit the back of Verstappen’s car as they turned right.

Perez ended up going off the track and rejoining in fifth place, behind the Ferraris and McLaren’s Piastri.

Red Bull team boss Horner said that Perez’s start was ambitious. He explained that because the Ferrari ahead of Perez didn’t start well, Perez saw a chance to move up. But he had to slow down because of the Ferrari, and that made him go too deep into the corner.

Horner was relieved that all the cars managed to avoid a crash.

Verstappen said he saw Perez getting close to him at the first corner. He was worried that they might crash, but luckily, they didn’t.

Perez finished the race in fifth place. Later, he moved up to fourth after Sainz was penalized for an incident.

Perez explained that when he tried to brake for the first corner, there wasn’t enough grip on the inside. He almost hit Verstappen but had to come off the brakes to avoid a crash. As a result, he lost a position to Piastri.

He said they struggled with pace during the race and needed to figure out why they couldn’t go faster.
