Team Principal Vasseur Downplays Ferrari's Win Over Red Bull
Vasseur said it was important for Ferrari to keep improving and not to relax

During the Monaco race weekend, Ferrari and McLaren were the top teams while Red Bull struggled on the bumpy street circuit. Max Verstappen finished sixth, between the two Mercedes drivers.

Vasseur, the team leader, noticed that in 2024, the competition among teams has become closer. Teams like Ferrari, McLaren, and Red Bull have all won races and could win more depending on the track.

He said it was important for Ferrari to keep improving and not to relax just because they beat Red Bull once. He said it would be bad for the team to think their job is done.

Vasseur explained that motivation wasn’t a problem, but confidence was. When a team starts winning, they pay more attention to details, which helps them keep improving.

He warned against assuming that Ferrari will always win because there are many different tracks with different challenges. The competition with McLaren and Red Bull will continue to be tough.

Vasseur said that even if Ferrari isn’t the fastest in every race, they need to take advantage of opportunities to score points. He believed that if Ferrari and McLaren keep improving, they will give Red Bull a tough fight for the rest of the season.

He said that now there are at least three teams, possibly even Mercedes, that can compete for pole position and wins. He hoped the competition would stay exciting until the end of the season.

Vasseur emphasized the importance of being opportunistic, which means taking advantage of every opportunity to score points. He said that last year, Ferrari missed out on points too often, but this year they’re doing better.

He believed the competition would remain tight for the rest of the season.
