Ocon is leaving Alpine at the end of this year. He and the team decided to go separate ways this week. This decision followed a crash with Gasly in Monaco. The team boss warned there would be consequences.

There’s talk about what action the team took after the Monaco incident. Alpine announced that reserve driver Doohan would drive Ocon’s car for practice in Montreal.

Alpine usually waits until the end of the season to give rookie practice runs. But Ocon says it’s not punishment. It’s because the track in Montreal needs cleaning, and he got a grid penalty for the race.
