Small, sporty sedans don’t come much better than the 2024 Honda Civic Si. It offers decent interior space, all the most crucial tech features, and is affordable to buy and run.

The ‘Si’ suffix on the trunk lid means you get a sportier driving experience than the regular Civic, courtesy of a few extra horses under the hood and a slick-shifting manual transmission as standard.

The good news continues thanks to very competitive pricing, great fuel consumption, and — if the previous generation Civic Si is anything to go by — low running costs, too. Okay, you’re thinking, so what’s the catch?

Well, the 200-horsepower 1.5-liter turbocharged engine is responsive, but a little down on power compared to rivals, and there are more refined alternatives if you regularly do highway miles.

Aside from that, the Civic Si is just the thing for the driving enthusiast on a budget.

What’s New For 2024?

The current generation Honda Civic Si was introduced in 2022 and has not received any updates since its launch. This remains true for 2024 as well.

  • Standard 6-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential
  • 200-horsepower 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four-cylinder engine
  • All Civic Si models come in one basic trim and five color options
  • Length: 184 inches
  • Width: 70.9 inches
  • Height: 55.5 inches
  • Wheelbase: 107.7 inches
  • Front Track: 60.5 inches
  • Rear Track: 61.7 inches
  • Curb Weight: 2,952 pounds

Engine Specifications And Performance

All Civic Si models come with a 200-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. Power goes to the front wheels through a slick six-speed manual transmission.

A limited-slip diff is standard. While the peak output is five hp down on the outgoing 2.4-liter model, downsizing the engine and adding a turbocharger gives the new car more torque (192 lb-ft vs. 174 lb-ft) where you need it.

The upshot is that you don’t notice the slight power deficit, and responsiveness and acceleration at low speeds is much improved. The 0-60mph time is around 6.6-seconds, quick enough to have fun but not quite on par with its more powerful rivals.

In daily driving conditions, the smooth gearshift (with rev-matching feature), lag-free power delivery, and responsive nature of the engine make the Civic Si enjoyable to drive, whatever the occasion. Suppose you love what the Civic Si offers but need more of an adrenaline rush.

In that case, the 2024 Honda Civic Type R is a fantastic but far pricier alternative.

Performance Specifications

  • 1.5-liter Turbocharged Inline-Four
  • Horsepower: 200 HP @ 6000 RPM
  • Torque: 192 LB-FT @ 1800 RPM
  • Transmission: 6-speed manual
  • Fuel Economy (Combined): 31 MPG
  • 0-60 MPH: 6.6 Seconds
  • Top Speed: 137 MPH

Unique to the Civic Si are the black cloth sport seats with red inserts and contrasting red stitching. The rest of the cabin is very similar to the Civic sedan and feels a cut above most rivals in this class.

All 2024 Honda Civic Si models come with a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.

This is roughly in line with the mid-tier regular Civic. Physical knobs and buttons are retained for commonly used functions. The infotainment system isn’t class-leading, but it works well and is more intuitive to use than most.

Rear

The Honda Civic Si sedan shared its platform with the standard Civic Sedan and scored a commendable 5-star overall safety rating in NHTSA crash testing.

The IIHS awarded the Honda Civic its top ‘Good’ rating for all but three areas, where it was rated as ‘Acceptable’. It was still considered impressive enough to be awarded the 2023 Top Safety Pick Award.

There have been no recalls or consumer complaints so far for the current generation Honda Civic Si, suggesting that it will be a reliable vehicle to own in the long run.

The Civic Si comes standard with several passive and active driver assistance features. Adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and forward-collision warning are all standard fitments. You also get a rear cross-traffic alert and a traffic sign recognition system.

The warranty offered on the Civic Si is pretty standard apart from the 24 month/24,000 mile complimentary maintenance plan.

This should cover your first two services and can be extended at additional cost.

2024 Honda Civic Si Versus Its Competitors

The Civic Si slots in below most similar rivals in outright acceleration and pricing, but offers just as much enjoyment from behind the wheel.

The Honda Civic Si comes in one trim level with one engine option. That makes your choice easy, especially when you realize it undercuts most of its rivals in pricing.

The 2024 Honda Civic Si may not be the quickest or most powerful car in its class, but it’s certainly one of the most fuel efficient.

The Honda Civic Si offers an engaging driving experience without resorting to complicated electronics or massive horsepower figures. If that is more important to you than drag-strip bragging rights, then the Civic Si is well worth a look.
