Hyundai has unveiled the refreshed Ioniq 5 electric vehicle, showcasing notable enhancements in its exterior design, performance, and overall driving experience, along with a larger battery pack promising extended range.

A major highlight of the update is the introduction of a new fourth-generation 84 kWh battery pack, offering an improved range. The RWD model now boasts a claimed combined range of 301 miles, surpassing the previous Korean-spec model’s 285 miles on a single charge.

In the US market, buyers currently have the option of selecting between a 58 kWh or 77.4 kWh battery pack. While the existing lineup offers a maximum range of 303 miles, it’s anticipated that the new battery will further elevate the range once EPA estimates are released.

The battery pack retains its fast-charging capability, replenishing from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes when connected to a 350 kW fast charger.

Enhancements in refinement and safety are also prominent in the updated Ioniq 5. Hyundai has incorporated new frequency-sensitive shock absorbers, which effectively reduce vibrations from the road surface, ensuring a smoother ride.

Furthermore, refinements in sound insulation, including strengthened rear wheel housings and lower body components, contribute to a quieter cabin environment. Safety measures have been bolstered with reinforced doors, stiffer B-pillars, and added second-row side airbags.

Externally, subtle styling updates include revised front and rear bumpers with more pronounced skid plates and aggressive detailing, enhancing the vehicle’s visual appeal and aerodynamic efficiency. New color options, such as Ultimate Red and Ecotronic Gray Matte, provide additional customization choices.

A notable addition to the features is the introduction of an N Line trim, inspired by the Ioniq 5 N styling, featuring unique bumpers, 20-inch wheels, and exclusive interior accents. Interior improvements include a redesigned climate control layout, enhanced infotainment controls, and a revamped center console with a wireless device charger.

The Ioniq 5 continues to offer the ccNC infotainment system and Blue Link streaming service, now augmented with over-the-air updates for continuous improvement. Driver assistance systems have been updated, with enhancements to lane-keeping and remote smart parking assist functionalities.

While specific updates for the US market are pending, it’s expected that they will align with the global improvements made to the Ioniq 5, ensuring a comprehensive and enhanced driving experience for consumers worldwide.
