Hyundai N recently revealed the Ioniq 5 N TA Spec, which is the toughest version of the Ioniq 5 N yet. These special models are designed to compete in the Electric Modified SUV/Crossover category at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. They will be joining two other standard Ioniq 5 N entries in this all-electric racing effort.

The Ioniq 5 N TA Spec uses the same power unit as the regular models but with some software tweaks to boost its power. This version can produce up to 678 horsepower, which is 37 horsepower more than the standard model.

The car looks quite different from the regular Ioniq 5 N. It has a special aerodynamic package, including a large wing, side skirts, diffuser, and splitters. These additions help create more downforce, which is important for keeping the car stable while navigating the 156 turns of the Pikes Peak course.

Some other changes include new shock absorbers, motorsport-spec brakes, and special 18-inch Yokohama Advan 005 slick tires. For safety, drivers will have a Recaro Pro Racer SPA Hans seat, a Sabelt six-point Hans safety harness, a roll cage, and an EV fire suppression system.

During the Pikes Peak event, both the Ioniq 5 N TA Spec and the standard Ioniq 5 N will have a unique livery. They will also produce sound using Hyundai’s N Active Sound+ system with modified speakers. The TA Spec cars will be driven by experienced racers Robin Shute and Dani Sordo, while the standard models will be driven by Paul Dallenbach and Ron Zaras.

The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb will take place on June 23, and Hyundai’s electric racing efforts will be joined by Ford’s electric F-150 Lightning SuperTruck.
