Mercedes-AMG has revealed the inaugural entry in its highly exclusive Mercedes Mythos line-up, introducing the PureSpeed concept ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix scheduled for May 26.

The PureSpeed is a two-seater roadster designed primarily for immersive open-air driving experiences. Its distinguishing feature lies in its deliberate omission of a roof, windshield, and side windows, opting for the attractive centerpiece: a halo bar inspired by Formula 1, impressing Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team’s Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.

Embracing Mercedes-Benz’s rich racing heritage, the Concept Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed combines race-car design, innovative materials, and cutting-edge technology. Limited to just 250 units, this series is reserved for the most ardent Mercedes-Benz admirers and collectors.

Inspired by legendary race cars, this concept marries unparalleled racing aesthetics with dynamic performance, creating a singular driving experience for discerning enthusiasts, epitomizing Mercedes-Benz’s pinnacle of exclusivity in the top segment.

HALO System: Racing Safety Meets Avant-Garde Design

A standout feature is the HALO system, replacing the traditional A-pillar. Derived from Formula 1™, this safety element has been integral to every Formula 1™ vehicle since 2018. It shields occupants’ heads in the event of an accident, resembling the shape of a halo. Comprising a bracket connected to the vehicle’s body, this aerodynamically optimized component ensures occupants’ safety, akin to Formula 1™ standards.

Moreover, two specially designed aerodynamic helmets accompany the Concept Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed, offering a Formula 1™-like field of vision. Inside, unique color schemes, equipment concepts, and a custom clock by IWC Schaffhausen on the dashboard further promote the experience.

Drawing inspiration from the Mercedes-AMG ONE hypercar, the Concept Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed boasts an ultra-low silhouette and sharp, visible carbon fiber parts juxtaposed with rounded shapes. The wheel design features unique carbon fiber cladding on the front and rear wheel covers, enhancing aerodynamics. The front wheel covers optimize airflow for brake cooling and downforce, while the rear covers are completely sealed.

The design pays homage to iconic Mercedes models, with flying buttresses reminiscent of legendary racing cars like the 300 SLR. The striking Le Mans red to graphite grey gradient paintwork, featuring a black AMG pattern, harks back to the victorious Mercedes car at the 1924 Targa Florio race. This celebration of Mercedes-Benz’s racing heritage is further symbolized by the number 10, a nod to the Targa Florio victory a century ago.

While the pricing details for PureSpeed remain undisclosed at this juncture, acquiring one would prove to be a formidable challenge, even for those with considerable financial resources.

This difficulty stems from Mercedes’ decision to limit production to only 250 units worldwide, as part of their new Mythos series. Should one be fortunate enough to secure a purchase, Mercedes sweetens the deal by including a pair of “Aerodynamically Optimized” helmets. Quite the bonus, indeed.
