Brad Keselowski, who drives and co-owns RFK Racing’s No. 6 Ford, had a strong performance at Sunday’s race at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway. Despite a pit stop mistake early in the race, Keselowski used smart pit strategy to finish third.

This marks Keselowski’s third consecutive top-three finish and fifth in his last seven races, including a victory at Darlington Raceway on May 12th. His consistent performance has moved him from 18th to ninth place in the series standings, securing his spot in the 2024 playoffs.

Reflecting on the race, Keselowski commented, “That was solid strategy. We got behind early for sure, but we kept putting ourselves in position to keep moving forward. It was a really hard-fought day for everyone. We will take a lot of good momentum from this one for sure.”

During the first stage caution caused by an incident involving Cody Ware and Derek Kraus, Keselowski had to pit twice due to what he thought was a loose wheel. Despite starting seventh, he fell to the back of the field.

In the final stage, Keselowski, along with others, stayed on the track as long as possible before making their last green flag stop, giving him fresher tires towards the end of the race. He also gained a position when fellow Ford driver Ryan Blaney ran out of fuel in the final laps.

“We were in position early and we had the issue there on pit road. The guys kept their heads down and recovered,” Keselowski remarked. “We had some good strategy and made some good passes on that last restart to start stage three and on the long run, we were really strong. We’re just making it all count where we can.”

When asked about his decision-making during the race, Keselowski, also a team owner, said, “Ultimately, I have the steering wheel, so I can always make the call, but I just felt confident. Our car wasn’t falling off, and I just wanted to keep going and see it out and see if maybe we could catch a yellow. If not, I felt more good things would happen for us.”

With 15 races completed this season, Keselowski has matched his top-five finishes from last season (seven) and has earned eight top-10 finishes, half of his total from the 2023 season.
