Rivian Software Update 2024: Enhanced Driving Modes & Features

Rivian has recently unveiled the details of its latest over-the-air software update, Version 2024.03.02, designed for the R1T and R1S vehicles. An exciting highlight of this update is the enhancement of the Soft Sand Mode, incorporating insights gained from Rivian’s victorious participation in the Rebelle Rally.

Utilizing data obtained from this experience, Rivian has refined the driving mode to optimize performance on sandy terrain.

Specifically, adjustments have been made to throttle input to prevent excessive digging in upon acceleration, alongside expanding the options for Ride Height and Ride Feel to enhance maneuverability.

However, the update isn’t solely tailored for off-road enthusiasts. Rivian has also broadened the Ride Feel settings for on-road driving modes.

For on-road driving, there are three distinct modes to select from. “Firm” offers an engaging driving experience, “Moderate” strikes a balance between ride comfort and handling across various conditions, and “Soft” prioritizes a tranquil driving experience.

The Conserve mode has been fine-tuned to deliver smoother low-speed rides over obstacles such as speed bumps and potholes.

Furthermore, the update introduces several functional improvements, including enhanced user notifications for lane-centering during Highway Assist activation, prolonged power outlet usage time, and simplified connectivity to the car’s Wi-Fi hotspot via a QR code scan on the center display.

Updates to the Rivian Mobile app bring new features, such as notifications when vehicle charging is complete at home and alerts regarding idle fees incurred while utilizing Rivian Waypoints or the Adventure Network.

Additionally, minor enhancements have been made to improve the overall ownership experience. Users can now customize which windows are disabled with the Window Locks feature, and accessing car controls like Window Locks, Car Wash, and Pet Comfort has been made more convenient.

These controls can now be accessed via the Vehicle button on the access panel, with the option to program Quick Controls for easy access when parked. Rivian has also addressed numerous bugs in the system based on customer feedback. The update is readily available for download to all Rivian owners.
