P1800 GT: Cyan Racing's Luxe Grand Tourer

A few years back, Cyan Racing, a Swedish motorsport team, expanded its operations to include street-legal cars, debuting with a revamped version of the Volvo P1800.

Their subsequent model revisits the classic 1960s coupe but with a unique twist, transforming it into a grand tourer. The process commences with an original P1800, and completion of the build typically takes between 12 to 15 months.

Cyan Racing has recently dispatched a striking green model with a cream interior to a customer in the United States. This updated iteration of the P1800 differs from its 2020 predecessor by featuring a softer, fully adjustable suspension system, ensuring enhanced comfort during extended journeys.

The interior has been equipped with supplementary sound-deadening materials and a custom titanium roll cage. Despite these enhancements, the car maintains its lightweight construction, weighing in at under 1,000 kilograms (2,204 pounds).

At the core of the P1800 GT lies the same turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine. It boasts up to 414 hp in its most potent configuration, though there are also variants starting at 345 hp.

This four-cylinder powerplant is adapted from the Volvo S60 TC1 racing car, and its output is transmitted to the rear axle via a specially crafted five-speed Holinger gearbox. Reportedly, the engine has been retuned to prioritize drivability over sheer peak power.

Crafted from carbon fiber, the stunning body of the P1800 GT is assembled at Cyan Racing’s facility in Gothenburg, Sweden.

While pricing specifics have not been disclosed, considering the regular P1800 can command up to $700,000, it’s evident that the GT variant will likely come with a hefty price tag. Production will be limited, with a second car already delivered to the US.
