NASCAR Xfinity race at Daytona postponed to Monday

The 300-mile race has been rescheduled for 11 a.m. ET on Monday and will be televised live on Fox Sports 1.

As rain continues to fall, a decision regarding Sunday’s Daytona 500 is pending. Joey Logano and Michael McDowell are set to lead the pack for the 66th edition of the 500.

Saturday morning saw the cancellation of the final Cup Series practice session of the week. Denny Hamlin topped the charts in Friday’s Daytona 500 practice, which saw Toyota drivers commanding the track. While there were no major incidents, a few drivers found themselves assessing backup cars following crashes in the Duel races.

Despite the absence of final practice for the Daytona 500, NASCAR managed to squeeze in one round of Xfinity Series qualifying on Saturday.

Rookie Jesse Love clinched the pole position with an impressive average lap speed of 181.068 mph. His teammate at Richard Childress Racing, Austin Hill, will join him on the front row.

A.J. Allmendinger secured the third starting spot, followed by Parker Kligerman in fourth and Shane van Gisbergen in fifth.

Rounding out the top-10 starting lineup are Justin Allagier, Jeremy Clements, John Hunter Nemechek, Parker Retzlaff, and Anthony Alfredo.

Several drivers failed to qualify for the race, including David Starr (disqualified after failing tech), Kyle Sieg, Caesar Bacarella, C.J. McLaughlin, Joey Gase, and Stanton Barrett.

Van Gisbergen, a three-time Supercars champion, is set to make his NASCAR series debut in 2024. His Friday night at the ARCA Menards Series season opener was marred by a multi-car wreck on Lap 4, resulting in a 29th-place finish.

Gus Dean emerged victorious in the ARCA race for Venturini Motorsports, which concluded under caution after a dramatic last-lap crash. In the preceding NASCAR Truck Series race, Nick Sanchez secured his maiden Truck Series win.

The race also ended under caution due to a significant pileup on the backstretch. Thankfully, Taylor Gray’s terrifying airborne crash resulted in no injuries.

In the lone Xfinity practice session on Friday, Jeb Burton set the pace with the fastest average lap speed, followed by Sammy Smith, Sheldon Creed, Cole Custer, and Ryan Truex.
