JetBlue Airways (B6) unveiled the Terminal 5 Skywalk at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York on March 1, 2024, in partnership with Empire State Development.

This infrastructure enhancement underscores the longstanding collaboration between JetBlue and the state of New York, emphasizing the airline’s commitment to its hometown.

The Terminal 5 Skywalk provides seamless connectivity for passengers traveling to and from AirTrain services, parking facilities, and broader New York City destinations, facilitating efficient transit to JetBlue’s operational hub at JFK.

Expected to serve millions of passengers, the Skywalk serves as a prime location for promoting New York City’s attractions and amenities.

Empire State Development spearheaded the project’s funding, with design, production, and installation overseen by Prophet and Jack Morton. The revamped branding incorporates innovative elements reflecting JetBlue’s distinct identity, offering passengers travel insights and encouraging exploration of New York State’s offerings.

Jeff Goodell, JetBlue’s Vice President of Government and Airport Affairs, highlighted the partnership’s shared objective of promoting New York as a premier travel destination:

“Through investments in this innovative Skywalk at JFK’s Terminal 5, we aim to ensure that the multitude of JetBlue customers utilizing this vital pedestrian connection recognize New York as a destination worth experiencing.”

JetBlue’s Role in New York

As the “Hometown Airline” of New York City, JetBlue has played a pivotal role in showcasing the cultural and economic significance of both the city and the state.

Collaborative initiatives, such as the iconic “I Love New York” and “I Heart Blue York” special livery campaigns, underscore the airline’s commitment to fostering pride and connectivity within the New York community.

JetBlue, headquartered in New York City, operates a diverse fleet of 288 aircraft, primarily comprising Airbus A320s.
