Rapper Meek Mill took to Instagram last week to share an unexpected turn of events during his first outing with his new GMC Hummer EV – a crash. The image he posted revealed significant damage to the front driver’s side of the vehicle, indicating a mishap during the drive.
The photo from the Instagram Story depicted the Hummer EV with evident front-end damage, including a collapsed driver-side front wheel and suspension, along with severe damage to the hood, bumper, and headlight. Mill, also known as Robert Rihmeek Williams, attributed the incident to an issue with the brake pedal.
Accompanying the image was Mill’s caption: “God telling don’t crash out for the bustas … ima listen[.] S*** knocked me out lol … gmc the whole brake pedal slipped off my first time driving smh.”
Following the crash, Mill reassured his followers on Twitter that “the car accident was minor.”
The tri-motor Hummer EV boasts an impressive 1,000 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just over 3 seconds despite its substantial curb weight of over 9,600 pounds.
However, bringing such a massive electric vehicle to a halt presents its challenges, as it may not match the braking capabilities of smaller, conventional vehicles.
Despite the incident, Mill has a well-documented affinity for high-performance vehicles, including a Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Flying Spur, and Aston Martin Rapide. Yet, none of his previous rides offer the unique combination of acceleration and weight found in the Hummer EV.
It’s worth noting that Mill has maintained a close association with GMC, evident from his appearance alongside DJ Khaled at the “HUMMER House” event during the 2023 Miami Grand Prix, which marked the debut of the limited-edition 2024 GMC Hummer EV3X Omega Edition.
Fortunately, it appears that no serious injuries resulted from the crash. Despite the setback, Mill’s enthusiasm for the Hummer EV likely remains undiminished, hinting at the possibility of him getting behind the wheel of another one in the future.
