Former Formula 1 driver Jerome d’Ambrosio is reportedly set to join Ferrari in 2025, following Lewis Hamilton’s move from Mercedes to the Italian team.

Hamilton’s surprising transfer to Ferrari for the upcoming season caused a stir in the F1 world, leaving many drivers without a seat for the next year.

Amid speculations about who will replace the 39-year-old at Mercedes, rumors suggest that key personnel from Mercedes, including his race engineer Peter ‘Bono’ Bonnington, might also join Hamilton at Ferrari.

It has emerged that d’Ambrosio, who has been associated with Mercedes since the beginning of the 2023 season, is likely making his way to the Italian team.

Initially, the Belgian joined Mercedes informally, working closely with team principal Toto Wolff, before being appointed as the team’s Driver Development Director before the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix.

The 38-year-old has been responsible for managing Mercedes’ young drivers, and there were indications from Wolff that he might replace him as team principal in his absence during race weekends.

Reports from Japanese publication as-web.jp suggest that d’Ambrosio has already reached an agreement with Ferrari’s team boss Frederic Vasseur and could potentially join the team even before the summer break this season.

D’Ambrosio entered Formula 1 in 2011 with Marussia Virgin Racing and had a brief stint with Lotus in 2012. After serving as a reserve driver in 2013, he competed in Formula E for six seasons, achieving a highest finish of fourth in the standings during the 2014-15 season.
