The Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line has revolutionized commuting for Lagosians since its inauguration in September 2023. Stretching over 13 kilometers, the first phase of this ambitious project has swiftly become a cornerstone of urban transportation, catering to the needs of hundreds of thousands of passengers daily.

With its full completion anticipated to span 27 kilometers from Marina to Okokomaiko, the Blue Line is poised to accommodate an estimated 500,000 daily passengers upon its entirety.

Notably, within just four months of commercial operations kickstarting under the auspices of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Blue Line has already facilitated the movement of a staggering 583,000 passengers by January of the following year.

A testament to its efficiency and accessibility, passengers can seamlessly access the electric train system akin to the convenience offered by BRT buses through the utilization of the Cowry card. Presently, traversing the 13-kilometer distance between Marina and Mile 2 comes at a cost of N750 Naira per full ride, with this fare further supplemented by a 25% discount.

Spanning from Marina to Mile 2, the first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line comprises key stations including Mile 2, Suru-Alaba, Orile Iganmu, National Theatre, and Marina. The journey unfolds within approximately 28 minutes, inclusive of brief 90-second stopovers at each station.

In a stride towards enhancing operational efficacy and reliability, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) recently initiated test runs for an Independent Power Plant, signaling a commitment to further fortifying the infrastructure supporting the Lagos State Blue Line Rail.
