The Federal Government (FG) reaffirmed its dedication to accelerating the advancement of the auto industry in Nigeria, as expressed by the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment during a meeting convened by the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) with officials from the African Association of Automotive Manufacturers (AAAM) and Nigeria Automotive Manufacturers Association (NAMA).

Emphasizing recent bold initiatives, the Minister underscored the FG’s commitment to revitalizing the auto industry in Nigeria, articulating this commitment during the gathering at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. She highlighted the proactive engagement fostered by the NADDC, indicating a growing participation of stakeholders, indicative of positive momentum in the industry’s development.

The Minister affirmed that the committee tasked with implementing the National Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP) bears the responsibility of ensuring meticulous strategic execution of the policy, aimed at benefiting auto practitioners, end-users, and the broader economy.

Encouraging investors to trust in the new NAIDP, the Minister aligned the Auto Policy with President Ahmed Tinubu’s industrialization agenda, advocating for increased investment and production within Nigeria, and promising a supportive environment conducive to industrial growth.

During the event, various stakeholders, including the Director-General of NADDC, emphasized the necessity for sustained engagement with AAAM and other pertinent stakeholders to drive further advancements in the industry. Recognizing Nigeria’s progress in the automotive sector over the years, stakeholders acknowledged the establishment of assembly plants, job creation, and enhanced local content resulting from the NAIDP, while also advocating for accelerated growth moving forward.
