In the recent warm-up session, two drivers, Ferrucci and Grosjean, left the pit lane together. They were driving close to each other when they went into a turn side by side. Ferrucci managed to pass Grosjean, but as they approached another turn, he made a rude gesture towards Grosjean.

Ferrucci came in ninth in the session, while Grosjean finished 13th. Afterward, Ferrucci explained that he was repaying Grosjean for an incident that happened in the last race at Barber Motorsports Park.

“He drove into me at Barber in the warm-up for no reason,” Ferrucci, who is 25 years old, said. “And I’m simply just returning the favor, my friend. It’s not Formula 1 anymore; you can hit people with these cars and be fine.”

Ferrucci felt he had the right to keep his position in the turn, and if Grosjean didn’t like it, he could talk to him about it.

Ferrucci clarified that there wasn’t any previous issue between them before the incident at Barber Motorsports Park, but he won’t tolerate being pushed around.

“No, that’s kind of where it started,” Ferrucci explained. “Honestly, I don’t really have a beef with the guy. He’s a nice dude, but you got to have a little bit more respect for your competitors on track.”

Ferrucci believed that the close racing would continue during the main race. He felt confident that they could pass other drivers during the race because the track at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is known for good racing.

“I think we’ll be able to pass,” Ferrucci said. “This track’s notorious for having good racing, not just on the Speedway, but for the GP. We’ll see. It’s gonna be tight out there. It’s really close. The field’s really tight this year. Everyone’s so good. There’s very little discrepancy. You’re more or less capitalizing on mistakes for other people.”

In today’s race, Ferrucci will start in 16th place, while Grosjean will start in 23rd.
