If you haven’t been keeping up, you might be surprised to know that Mitsubishi has been doing pretty well in the United States lately. They weren’t very popular before, but their new cars, especially the Mitsubishi Outlander and Outlander PHEV, have been selling well since around 2018. Mark Chaffin, the President and CEO of Mitsubishi North America, says their plan called “Momentum 2030” will keep this going. They want to introduce new cars with different engines, open more dealerships, and develop new technologies to make buying and owning a car easier and more fun.

People who love cars always get excited about new engines and new cars. Mitsubishi is working on some new trucks, SUVs, and vans that could be really interesting. One of them is a passenger van, but it’s not like the usual ones you see. It’s inspired by a concept called the D:X Concept that Mitsubishi showed off in Tokyo last year.

This van would be tough and rugged, perfect for people who love off-roading and camping. It would also be a plug-in hybrid, which means it could run on electricity and gas. Some of the cool features from the concept might not make it to the final van, but it will probably have three rows of seats and be good for off-roading.

Another car they’re working on is like the Subaru Outback. It’s based on the Outlander SUV but made for people who love the outdoors. It will have a higher suspension, off-road wheels and tires, roof racks, and a rugged look. This one seems like a sure thing, and it might also be a plug-in hybrid.

Mitsubishi is also thinking about making electric pickup trucks. They used to sell pickup trucks in other countries, but they haven’t sold one in the US for a while. If they do make electric trucks, it might take some time before we see them on the roads.
