First responders in Plainfield were called to a car crash on Norwich Road Thursday morning, involving a vehicle that ended up on the lawn of a residential property. The Plainfield Fire Department received the initial report around 9:30 a.m., with police arriving at the scene about 20 minutes later.

Police officers found a gray Honda Civic on the property at 495 Norwich Road. The driver, identified as Joseph Lally, 31, from Massachusetts, was safely removed from the vehicle. He was transported to Backus Hospital for a possible back injury.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the vehicle had exited the parking lot of The Roofing Store, located at 496 Norwich Road, before crossing the street and leaving the roadway. These accounts suggest the crash occurred shortly after the vehicle left the parking lot.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by Plainfield Police. Further information will be released as the investigation unfolds.
