Mercedes-Benz has officially opened orders for the new VLE, marking a significant step in its electric expansion strategy. Positioned as a premium electric MPV, the VLE blends luxury, practicality, and long-distance capability in a segment that is rapidly evolving.
The VLE launches in Europe with a starting price of €82,260 for the five-seat version, while the six-seat configuration comes at a higher cost. Mercedes has already outlined plans to broaden the lineup, with a more affordable VLE 300 expected later in 2026 and additional entry-level variants arriving in 2027.
Underpinning the VLE is a new 800-volt electric architecture designed to improve efficiency and usability over long distances. The model offers a WLTP range of up to 713 km, positioning it among the most capable electric vehicles in its class.
Fast-charging performance is equally notable, with support for up to 300 kW DC charging, enabling the addition of approximately 355 km of range in just 15 minutes under optimal conditions.
Inside, the VLE focuses heavily on flexibility. Mercedes introduces its “Roll & Go” seating system, allowing seats to slide, fold, or be removed entirely. This makes it easy to transition between passenger and cargo configurations. The system is integrated with the brand’s MB.OS platform, enabling users to adjust seating layouts remotely via the infotainment system or a mobile app.

Predefined modes such as Baggage, Executive, and People & Baggage allow the cabin to adapt quickly depending on use. Whether prioritizing luggage space or rear-seat comfort, the VLE is designed to function as both a family vehicle and a premium transport solution.
Mercedes has also confirmed that the VLE is just the beginning of a broader lineup. An all-wheel-drive 4MATIC variant will arrive later in 2026, alongside AMG Line styling options and expanded customization features. By 2027, the range will grow further to include a long-wheelbase version, additional battery options, and more accessible trims.
This phased rollout reflects a strategic approach, allowing Mercedes to scale the VLE across multiple use cases, from private ownership to executive transport services. With seating configurations ranging from five to eight occupants, the vehicle is built to accommodate a wide range of needs.
The VLE signals a shift in how premium automakers are approaching electrification. Rather than focusing solely on sedans and SUVs, Mercedes is targeting high-end, practical segments where electric technology can deliver tangible advantages.
With its combination of long range, rapid charging, and a highly adaptable interior, the VLE positions itself as a strong contender in the emerging electric luxury MPV market.
