Keeping a classic sports car on the road can become increasingly difficult as original components disappear from dealership inventories and used parts become harder to find.

Acura is addressing that problem with the U.S. launch of its Honda Heritage Parts program, beginning with more than 3,000 reproduction parts for the first-generation NSX.

Announced on November 2, 2026, the initiative gives owners of the 1991–2005 sports car another factory-backed option for maintenance and restoration. It also signals that Honda and Acura intend to provide longer-term support for their performance-car heritage.

Honda Heritage Parts Gives First-Generation NSX Owners New Support

The launch is particularly relevant because the first-generation NSX covers a long production run, from the 1991 through 2005 model years. That means the parts program needs to support cars built across different production periods, not just early examples.

Owners should still verify compatibility using their vehicle’s model year, specification, and part number before placing an order. A component that fits one version may not necessarily suit every NSX in the range.

The announcement also marks a change from the earlier plan. Acura first outlined its intention to introduce the program in the United States in March 2026, with parts expected to become available through dealerships during the summer.

The November 2 announcement confirms that the sales launch has taken place and that the catalog now contains more than 3,000 items.

What Types of Parts Are Included in the Program?

The Honda Heritage Parts program stands out not just for the number of replacement components it offers, but also for the range of systems it covers. Its scope includes five key areas: powertrain, chassis, electrical systems, exterior, and interior. This comprehensive approach is important because older sports cars can experience wear and failures in many areas beyond the engine, making access to a wider selection of replacement parts essential.

Powertrain components are important for keeping the NSX’s mechanical systems operating as intended. The first-generation model used a mid-mounted V6, and its engine and supporting systems are central to the car’s character.

Having a manufacturer-backed parts channel for relevant components can give owners another option when servicing an older engine or addressing wear in related systems.

Chassis components are equally important. Suspension and steering parts experience years of movement, road impacts, and exposure to changing weather conditions. Rubber components, mounts, and other aging hardware can deteriorate even when a vehicle has relatively low mileage.

Replacements can help restore predictable handling and reduce the compromises that come with driving a car whose original components have become worn.

Electrical and interior parts can be especially frustrating for owners of older vehicles. A damaged switch, connector, trim piece, or other small component may seem insignificant, but finding the correct replacement can delay a restoration.

Exterior components also matter because original body and lighting parts can be difficult to source in good condition, particularly when owners want to preserve the car’s original appearance.

Honda’s wider heritage-parts strategy includes two different approaches to reproducing discontinued components. Genuine Honda reproduction parts are made using the same materials and production methods as the original components.

Honda-compatible parts are newly redeveloped replacements for items that Honda no longer sells, using updated materials or manufacturing methods where necessary.

That distinction is important for restoration work. Owners trying to preserve a car as close to factory specification as possible may place particular value on parts reproduced using original manufacturing methods. Compatible replacements offer another solution when recreating the original component is no longer practical.

However, Acura’s November 2 U.S. announcement does not provide a complete public breakdown of all 3,000-plus parts, their individual prices, or the category assigned to each item.

Owners should not assume that every component they need is immediately available simply because it falls within one of the five covered systems. Checking the catalog or contacting an Acura parts department remains necessary before planning a repair.

The program also does not mean that every restoration can be completed using factory parts alone. Older vehicles can require specialist labor, diagnosis, fabrication, and work on components that are not included in the available catalog.

The new offering expands the options available to owners, but it does not eliminate the practical challenges of maintaining a car that has been out of production for more than two decades.

How Owners Can Buy the Parts and What Comes Next

U.S. customers can purchase these parts through two channels: authorized Acura dealerships nationwide or Honda’s DreamShop online store. Visiting a dealership also gives owners access to parts specialists who can help identify the correct replacement, confirm vehicle compatibility, and guide them through the ordering process.

DreamShop provides an online route for searching and purchasing genuine Honda and Acura parts through the dealer network.

The dealership option could be particularly useful for owners working on complex restorations. A parts specialist can help verify a component against the vehicle’s identification and production details, reducing the risk of ordering something that does not fit.

For older cars with multiple production changes, checking the correct part number before spending money is an important step.

Acura has not announced a single fixed price for the program or a universal discount for heritage components. Costs will depend on the specific part, its availability, and the applicable ordering details.

Owners should also confirm whether an item is currently in stock, needs to be ordered, or has a limited supply. The existence of a catalog listing does not necessarily guarantee immediate delivery.

There is also a larger Honda initiative behind the U.S. parts launch. Honda Heritage Works was established to support classic Honda and Acura performance vehicles through parts reproduction and restoration-related services.

Its heritage-parts operation is intended to address the difficulty of supplying discontinued components as older models become increasingly difficult to maintain. The company launched the program in Japan in April 2026 before bringing the NSX offering to the United States.

One important limitation for American owners is that the full restoration service is not part of this U.S. announcement. Honda’s restoration service, which uses heritage components to bring vehicles closer to their original performance, appearance, and driving feel, was announced for Japan-market first-generation NSX models.

Acura has not announced that the same factory restoration service will be offered to U.S. customers. American owners are receiving access to the parts program, not a confirmed equivalent of the Japanese restoration operation.

The next question is which models Honda will support after the NSX. Acura says the program is intended to expand, but it has not named the next vehicles or provided a timetable for additional U.S. launches.

That leaves owners of other older Acura and Honda performance models waiting for confirmation rather than a guaranteed parts rollout.

The program currently places its strongest emphasis on the first-generation NSX. This focus comes at a fitting time, as the earliest U.S. models are nearing their 35th anniversary, while even the final examples from the 1991–2005 production run have been out of production for more than 20 years.

Factory-backed replacement parts can help owners address age-related wear, maintain original specifications, and avoid relying entirely on used components.

Acura’s decision is significant because a sports car’s long-term reputation depends partly on whether owners can continue maintaining it after production ends.

More than 3,000 available parts will not make every NSX repair inexpensive or straightforward, but the program gives owners another route to finding components from the manufacturer.

It also offers a practical sign that Honda wants its performance-car heritage to remain usable, rather than simply celebrated in museums and enthusiast collections.
