Published Categorized as Tech No Comments on Tesla Supercharger Network: Rivian Access and NACS Collaboration Updates

In a groundbreaking move, Tesla recently granted access to its Supercharger network for Ford EVs, marking the fruition of the NACS agreement. Following suit, Rivian becomes the second automaker to benefit from this collaboration, enabled by a software update facilitating Tesla Supercharger support in the Navigation app.

Ford pioneered the adoption of Tesla’s NACS plug in May 2023, paving the way for other major EV manufacturers to follow suit. Rivian, an early advocate of the NACS standard, now provides its owners access to Tesla’s Supercharger network via the Rivian app and navigation system, streamlining route planning and charging experiences.

Tesla’s Supercharger network, initially exclusive to Tesla vehicles, now accommodates third-party EVs in North America, thanks to special adapters and the NACS agreement. Rivian owners can seamlessly access Tesla chargers through the Rivian app, utilizing plug & charge functionality for effortless payment and charging.

The recent software update, rolled out to Rivian vehicles in March 2024, enhances the navigation app’s functionality, offering faster-rerouting guidance and improved route planning capabilities. Rivian’s swift implementation of Tesla Supercharger support underscores its commitment to providing an unparalleled electric vehicle ownership experience.
