Infineon Technologies, a leading semiconductor company, and HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE) have forged a preliminary partnership aimed at pioneering advancements in marine engine and machinery electrification. Together, they seek to harness the potential of energy-efficient power semiconductor technology for marine applications.

Under this agreement, Infineon and HD KSOE will focus on creating power solutions for propulsion drive technology, which is a crucial component in the electrification of ships. Infineon will lend technical support to HD KSOE by providing expertise in semiconductor power modules and system solutions while sharing insights into semiconductor trends within the maritime industry.

The goal of this partnership is for HD KSOE to enhance the dependability and performance of marine vessel propulsion drive technology. By leveraging energy-efficient power semiconductor technology, they aim to contribute to environmental sustainability through the electrification of ships.

Peter Wawer, Division President at Infineon Technologies, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, highlighting its potential to foster a more sustainable marine engine ecosystem and accelerate the decarbonization of shipping.
