Toyota Australia has revealed details about the upcoming hybrid-only Camry sedan set to hit the local market later this year. Scheduled for release in the second half of 2024, the next-generation Toyota Camry will be available in three trim levels: Ascent, Ascent Sport, and SL. Notably, the sporty SX variant will no longer be offered, and the entry-level petrol-only Ascent model will also be discontinued.
Pricing for the 2025 lineup is yet to be disclosed. All variants will be equipped with Toyota’s fifth-generation hybrid system, featuring a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a lithium-ion battery. While the Australian market will likely maintain the front-wheel-drive Camry Hybrid configuration, offering a total system output of 168kW, other regions may have the option for all-wheel drive with slightly higher power at 173kW.
Standard safety features across all models include adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, a driver monitoring camera, front and rear parking support brake, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, front and rear parking sensors, and a surround-view camera. Notably, features like blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, previously unavailable in the base Ascent, will now be included.
The entry-level Ascent variant will boast an array of standard equipment, including an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7.0-inch instrument cluster screen, Toyota Connected Services, a six-speaker sound system, two rear USB-C outlets, fabric upholstery, dual-zone climate control, an electronic parking brake, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, and LED tail lights.
Stepping up to the Ascent Sport adds enhancements such as a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, satellite navigation, a wireless phone charger, an eight-way power driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, “high-grade” LED headlights, and an electro-chromatic rear-view mirror.
The top-tier SL trim level promotes luxury with features like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a digital rear-view mirror, paddle shifters, a heated steering wheel, leather-accented upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, an eight-way power passenger seat, a nine-speaker JBL sound system, power steering wheel adjustment, a panoramic sunroof, a head-up display, rain-sensing wipers, heated exterior mirrors, rear privacy glass, rear camera washer, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
