Princess Diana’s Ford Escort RS Turbo sells for more than $1.2 million!

Dianna, Princess of Wales' 1985 Ford Escort RS Turbocharged S1 sold at auction for $1.2 Million

It was sold in Silverstone, Britain.

The Ford Escort Ghia Charles bought Her as an anniversary present went for £47,000 last year, although the sale price of that car was higher.

Diana's black sedan had blue pearlescent paint, only 40,170 miles on the odometer, and a list of previous users.

Additionally, it had Ford memoranda attesting to the re-plating of the number plate, which is customary for ex-Royal vehicles.

So, when was the car registered?

The vehicle was licensed on August 23rd, 1985, exactly 37 years prior to being auctioned.

“We have sold a number of motorcars that have had a royal pedigree, but this car ticks every box in terms of history, rarity, condition and mileage. The market adores early Ford RS models,”

The amount breaks the previous record for Escort sales, which stood at £63,000 and was obtained by a white 1985 Ford Escort RS Turbocharged S1 that was sold in 2021.
