The 2027 Lexus TZ is the newest model added to Toyota’s luxury division. It marks Lexus’s first entry into this segment, arriving as an SUV with an estimated driving range of around 300 miles. It will compete with models such as the Rivian R1S, Cadillac Vistiq, and Volvo EX90.
The TZ is based on the Driving Lounge Concept, which focuses on creating an open, calming interior while still maintaining engaging driving dynamics. Thanks to electric motors and their immediate torque delivery, that sporty feel is achievable.
All TZ variants come equipped with standard all-wheel drive. An optional rear-wheel steering system is available, improving maneuverability in tight spaces and enhancing handling stability. Buyers can choose between 20-inch and 22-inch wheels. The vehicle is built on the TNGA platform, which underpins many Toyota and Lexus models and has a strong track record for reliability.

Battery options
Two lithium-ion battery packs are offered: a 77.0 kWh unit and a larger 95.8 kWh version. Additional insulation materials help reduce cabin noise, especially important in an EV where there is no engine sound to mask road noise.
Based on performance figures from the related Highlander, the entry-level TZ could produce around 338 horsepower and 323 lb-ft of torque, enabling 0–60 mph acceleration in roughly 6.0 seconds. A higher-performance variant may mirror the output of the Subaru Getaway (a counterpart to the Highlander), delivering about 420 horsepower and reaching 60 mph in under 5 seconds.
Drive settings include Normal, Sport, Eco, Range, and Rear Comfort, the latter designed to reduce motion sickness for rear passengers. Regenerative braking offers five levels of deceleration. An Active Sound Control system generates artificial driving sounds during acceleration and deceleration, though it can likely be switched off.
Interior Space and Features
Inside, Lexus uses eco-conscious materials such as engineered bamboo and plant-based microsuede. The design emphasizes openness, with a slim dashboard and streamlined seating. A low floor and extended wheelbase improve cabin space, while a panoramic roof spanning all three rows enhances the airy feel. It includes a power sunshade and can be opened.
Front seats and second-row captain’s chairs come with both heating and cooling functions, along with power ottomans for added comfort, a first for Lexus.
The third row is designed with sofa-like cushioning. Access is made easier through flush-mounted seat rails and a one-touch system that moves the second-row seats forward. A removable rear console with a two-level tray setup allows passage to the back. Both the second and third rows can be folded electronically at the push of a button.
Like most modern vehicles, the TZ is heavily screen-focused. It features Lexus’s latest infotainment system, described as an immersive multimedia platform with 5G connectivity, faster processing, customizable widgets, and an updated Lexus voice assistant. It supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Audio is delivered through a 21-speaker Mark Levinson premium system.

Safety and Charging
On the safety front, the TZ is equipped with Lexus Safety System 4.0, offering advanced driver assistance features such as acceleration, steering, braking, lane-keeping, and traffic navigation support, with the ability to warn or intervene to help avoid collisions.
For charging, Lexus debuts a new 2-in-1 charging port design that places AC and DC connectors side by side under a sliding cover. The U.S. version will also include a NACS port, allowing access to Tesla Superchargers.
Full specifications, trim details, and pricing will be announced later in the year, closer to its official launch.
