BMW has revealed that it will launch a new Le Man’s race car. The all-new BMW M Hybrid V8 LMDh is the new BMW to race at the endurance championship. This car is crafted according to the rules and regulations of the Le Mans Daytona. This car is eligible for both the 24 hours of Daytona and the 24 hours of Le Man’s categories. BMW is focusing more on the Daytona race. Other cars designed for the Le Mans Hypercar are also eligible for both categories. The new rule of Le Mans is to even out all the cars and have a fair competition.

We are seeing all the major players of the World Endurance championship charging up. Ferrari also recently announced that they are coming up with a new race car for the Le Mans. Other automakers like Porsche, Cadillac, and Acura are also preparing for the new car, keeping Le Man’s regulations in mind. In this article, we will discuss the BMW M Hybrid V8.

What Are The Specifications Of The BMW M Hybrid V8?

BMW will offer a hybrid setup for the new M hybrid V8. This new Le Man’s race car will use a new chassis that an Italian company, Dallara, supplies. The new M hybrid V8 will have a turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine. This engine will produce around 640 horsepower and 650-Nm of torque. The V8 has a capacity of 3,999cc with eight cylinders. BMW has also inserted an electric motor, inverter, and a high voltage battery. M hybrid v8 has a separator clutch. This clutch can switch from an internal combustion engine to an electric motor. It will switch into a fully electric race car.

The new M Hybrid V8 has some standard features for endurance races. It has a low hood, narrow cockpit, and huge rear wing. BMW has not forgotten to add its trademark grille. There is a separated twin grille at the front end of the car. This car marks the event of 50th Anniversary of BMW Motorsports.

In Which Championships Will This New BMW Compete?

The new M Hybrid V8 is made to race in the Le Mans Daytona. It will race in both the IMSA and the World Endurance Championship. Cars for both championships will have some differences. The race car used for Le Mans Daytona will have a hybrid system switchable to the combustion engine. At the same time, the cars for other races will be free to design their chassis. We saw that BMW is taking up chassis from Dallara for the Daytona race.
