As the future is heading towards electrification, the automobile industry has a huge role in this process. We have seen a lot of hundreds of new electric vehicles but do you know that Apollo, one of the world’s best tyre manufacturers, has also stepped into the electrification? Apollo Tyres wants to participate in this process by giving its new EV special tyres. Recently, Apollo launched EV-specific tyres for electric passenger vehicles and two-wheelers in India. The new tyres in the range for EVs are Amperion and Wav. The Apollo Amperion will assist passenger vehicles in India. On the other hand, Apollo Wav is for the two-wheelers.

Electric hatchbacks, sedans, and compact SUVs will use Amperion tires. Specifically, Hyundai Kona, Tata Nexon, MG ZSE, and many more upcoming SUVs will wear these tyres. While The Apollo WAV will be applied to the electric range of two-wheelers in India. These are specifically designed for electric two-wheelers. Electric scooters like TVS iQube, and Ather 450 will use these tyres. Although, according to the sources, tyres for electric motorcycles will be produced in the next phase of development. What Technology Do The EV-Specific Tyres use?

Apollo has developed a new tyre range specifically for EVs. Accordingly, this tyre manufacturer has infused a few Apollo technologies. They have used advanced technology like Apollo’s Quiet Tyre Technology (AQuT). Apollo has also used advanced designs, patterns, and tire cavities to reduce the tyre noise in EVs. These tyres use Battery Energy Saver Technology (BEST). This technology functions under the principle of using a low-rolling resistance technology package. It helps to increase the battery range as well. Multiple objects inspire the design of these tyres to give a perfect design. The WAV is designed by getting inspired by digital circuit board design. On the other hand, Amperion uses jellyfish as its inspiration. Also, Apollo claims these tyres will increase the driving range by 8% in the new electric vehicles.

What Did Satish Sharma Say About The EV Tyres?

Satish Sharma is the president of Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Africa Apollo tyres. He is also the director of Apollo tyres. Satish Sharma is a member of the company’s Management and Supervisory Board. During the launch of the EV-specific tyres, he addressed the media by stating that the tyre design and manufacturing have evolved as the automobiles did. He further added that Apollo research and development team has invested a lot of time and knowledge in understanding the changes in the automobile industry. It took years to understand the need for electric vehicles. Satish Sharma also said that Apollo is already in talks with various OEMs in India to supply the new EV tires.
