Nissan is putting a halt to the production of one of its best-selling sedans of all time, the Maxima. In the recent reports, Nissan officially announced that the production of Maxima will stop in the later months of 2023. After a successful run of 42 years, Maxima will receive a break. Although, it is said that Maxima can return after 2025 with the electric motors setup. However, Nissan has not confirmed the arrival of the electric Maxima. Still, the upcoming lineup of electric vehicles is expected to include a car with the nameplate of Maxima. The major reason behind the end of Maxima is the fall in sales. In the first half of 2022, Nissan recorded sales of just 3753 units of Maxima.
On the other hand, Nissan sold more than 78,000 Altimas. Another best-selling sedan of Nissan is the Altima. Maxima could not compete with its sibling, so it was difficult to sustain itself in the ICE vehicle market.

Nissan Is Ending The Era Of Maxima
The Japanese automaker announced that it would be ending the production for Maxima by 2023. It is official information, and Nissan will end the forty-two-year-old lineup of Maxima.
Nissan introduced the Maxima in 1980 under the badging of Datsun. It is a full-size five-door sedan with a front-engine setup. Maxima was offered a rear-wheel drive. Initially, it was launched as a front-wheel drive. Over time, Nissan has introduced eight generations of Maxima. The first gen Maxima came with 2.4-liter gasoline and 2.8-liter diesel engine. 2022 Nissan Maxima: Details And More
Maxima is in its eighth generation, which will be this sedan’s last generation. This generation of Maxima was introduced in 2015. Since then, it has received changes in its features and looks. Currently, Maxima is selling the 2022 model. It is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine which produces 300 horsepower. Maxima took 5.7 seconds to accelerate from zero to sixty mph. Along with the quick acceleration, it comes with a good handling and smooth driving experience.

While addressing the public with the news of Maxima’s end, Nissan’s spokesperson said that the maxima are one of the best sedans in the United States. He further added that on 3rd August, Nissan informed its dealers, suppliers, and employees about the discontinuation of Maxima. The following day this news was out to everyone. The company’s long-term plan is to get the majority of cars electrified in its lineup.
Early this year, Nissan also announced the arrival of two new electric cars. These cars will add to the huge electric vehicle fleet of Nissan.
