Nissan is putting a halt to the production of one of its best-selling sedans of all time, the Maxima. In the recent reports, Nissan officially announced that the production of Maxima will stop in the later months of 2023. After a successful run of 42 years, Maxima will receive a break. Although, it is said that Maxima can return after 2025 with the electric motors setup. However, Nissan has not confirmed the arrival of the electric Maxima. Still, the upcoming lineup of electric vehicles is expected to include a car with the nameplate of Maxima. The major reason behind the end of Maxima is the fall in sales. In the first half of 2022, Nissan recorded sales of just 3753 units of Maxima.

On the other hand, Nissan sold more than 78,000 Altimas. Another best-selling sedan of Nissan is the Altima. Maxima could not compete with its sibling, so it was difficult to sustain itself in the ICE vehicle market.
